The Bethell treatment is applied to the wood to keep it from decaying. A vacuum and pressure process that has the objective to introduce the preservative solution on the interior of the wood´s cells, assure it sets in and reduce the effects of time and humidity on the wood. Among the autoclave treatments, the most commonly used process these days is the injection treatment called the Bethell process. At the beginning it consists of filling all the cells of the wood with product until full saturation (filled cells process).
